Set in rural Ireland in 1981, this is the story of a young girl, Cáit (Catherine Clinch), who lives with her siblings on an impoverished smallholding with her boorish father and pregnant, harassed mother. She is sent away to spend the summer with Seán (Andrew Bennett) and Eibhlín Cinnsealach (Carrie Crowley), middle-aged cousins of her mother’s whom she has never met. Slowly, in the care of this couple, Cáit blossoms and discovers a new way of living, but in this house where affection grows and there are meant to be no secrets, she discovers one.
