ABOUT

Five years after the events of Mamma Mia!, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) prepares for the grand reopening of the Hotel Bella Donna.  She is expecting her first child and, with husband Sky absent in New York, she worries that she won’t be able to handle everything on her own, so she turns to her mother’s friends Rosie (Julie Walters) and Tanya (Christine Baranski) for assurance, help and guidance. Along the way, she learns more about her mother’s past and faces a surprise visit from someone she’s never met: her own grandmother (Cher). With Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgärd, and starring Lily James as young Donna.

REVIEWS

Set on a bright colour palette and soaring on the wings of its timeless ABBA songs, this perfectly titled sequel has enough joie de vivre to paint the clouds with sunshine. Ten years after the original, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel writer director Ol Parker has created a joyous film in which the past and the present fuse together harmoniously. There’s a lovely free-spirited feeling about the film, its clever screenplay providing a platform for the stunning settings, marvellous cast and a backstory that adds to our overall experience. It’s sweet but not too sweet, funny in a delightful way with poignant touches to tug the heartstrings. ”  Urban Cinefile

Much has changed in the 10 years since Mamma Mia! challenged my ideas of “good” and “bad” film-making. I have certainly mellowed, and perhaps my critical faculties have withered and died. But I simply can’t imagine how Mamma Mia! Here We Go Againcould be any better than it is. I loved it to pieces and I can’t wait to go again!  Mark Kermode

“To sum it up in one easy sentence: if you loved the first film, you’ll certainly adore this one.”  The Upcoming
