Moviola Associate Venues

We are pleased to be able to share our experience with groups all over the United Kingdom and are working to compile a definitive list of all groups and individual venues active in rural cinema.

We can offer a range of informal advice and we are also prepared to offer more formal Consultancy services in rural and community cinema.   Our range of expert advice – informed by nearly 10 years of activity and meeting many other providers - includes programming advice, fundraising, planning a sustainable business, event organisation and show management.

Moviola currently books films for over 150 venues.  This gives us a special status with film distributors, leading to early release of films and sometimes exclusivity.  In October 2008 we were the only organisation in the UK outside of mainstream cinemas allowed to show Mamma Mia, and in winter 2009 we premiered the runaway success Morris: A Life with Bells On, a world exclusive which generated interest literally from around the globe!

Associate Moviola status allows you access to our programming and film booking service.   Formal registration is required  (click here for the current conditions and registration document)  but is free.    All Associates are sent a Films Menu and  DVD of trailers three times a year:  in May for the September to December season, in November for January to Easter and in March for Easter to July.    Films which are selected from the menu and which are used by others among the 90 halls in the main Moviola network are available without minimum charges (simply 35% of ticket sales however large or small), without VAT (representing a considerable saving for smaller venues),  and with an optional free disk of short films and trailers to use as a supporting programme for the feature.  Communication is quick, easy and reliable with a guaranteed speedy response time. (Note: Associate status is only available to non-profit distributing community based groups.  Our Charitable status prevents us formally assisting commercial cinema operations.)

In the operating year 2008-9, Moviola provided films for Associates for 265 shows, and with numbers of Associates growing daily the total for 2009-10 will be much greater.
