The Sea Inside (Mar Adentro) (PG) 125 mins

Based on a true story, Alejandro Amenábar's profoundly moving The Sea Inside is about Ramón Sampedro (Oscar nominee Javier Bardem) who, paralysed from the neck down after a diving accident, fought a 30 year campaign for the right to end his life with dignity.  The film tells the story of his relationship with two women: his lawyer Julia (Belén Rueda), who supports his cause, and Rosa (Lola Dueñas), a local woman who wants to persuade him that life is worth living.  Through the gift of his love, these two women are inspired to accomplish things they never thought possible.  Although he wanted to die, Ramón taught everyone he encountered the meaning and preciousness of life.  A truly joyous experience, The Sea Inside celebrates the nature of freedom and love, and the mystery and beauty of life.
