From the musical by Lionel Bart, this was Oliver Twist for the West End brought to the big screen in fabulous technicolour. With the wonderful Ron Moody as Fagin, Leonard Rossiter as Sowerberry, and Oliver Reed as Bill Sykes, the young Mark Lester made his name as the angelic orphan Oliver, recruited by the Artful Dodger (Jack Wild) to be a pickpocket in Fagin’s academy of young rogues in 19^th Century London.
