Millions (12A)   98 mins

"Can anyone be truly good?"

Damian and Anthony, two young brothers whose mother has recently died, move with their father to a new housing estate in Manchester.  Playing near the railway line one day, Damian (Alex Etel) comes across a bag thrown from a train, containing £260,000.  Seven-year-old Damian  is a young philanthropist whose hobby is learning (and daydreaming) about the saints, especially his favourite Francis of Assisi. He believes the money must be a gift from God and wants to use it to help the poor. His older brother Anthony (Lewis McGibbon), who is nine, is a budding capitalist and straightaway starts thinking in terms of exchange rates, inflation, and investing in property.  But whatever they decide to do with it, they must act fast, because in just a few days the Bank of England will be switching over to the euro.  Directed by Danny Boyle, who made Trainspotting and Shallow Grave, this is an enchanting film, whimsical yet sophisticated and sweet without being cloying.

"A family film of limitless imagination and surprising joy.  This is one of the best films of the year."  Roger Ebert

"A heartfelt, emotionally delicate children's movie about life and death and all the parts in between."  New York Times
