Jonathan Demme's remake of John Frankenheimer's 1962 conspiracy-war thriller, this time with the more chilling setting of the 1990's Gulf War.  Sergeant Raymond Shaw (Liev Schrieber) is the man hailed as the saviour of his platoon after defeating an enemy ambush, an accolade for which he receives the medal of honour and one he exploits to become a nominee for Vice President of the United States.  Major Ben Marco (Denzel Washington), haunted by conflicting nightmares of wartime atrocities and CO to Shaw's platoon, begins to investigate the mystery behind the ambush Shaw is famous for defeating and the involvement of Manchurian Global Corporation.
