The Devil Wears Prada (PG) 109 mins 35mmAndrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway) has just graduated from Northwestern University. She arrives in New York bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, dreaming of becoming a journalist. By amazing luck (or not) she lands a job as second assistant to Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the editor of the hugely influential fashion magazine Runway. Andy is naive, lacks dress sense and is initially rather contemptuous of fashion, consequently she is despised by most of her colleagues. "Who is that sad little person? Are we doing a before-and-after piece I don't know about?" asks one of them on first seeing her. Her new boss, Vogue's Anna Wintour in very thin disguise, is a martinet who bullies and humiliates her staff. But Andy is willing to work hard, and with the help of Nigel, the magazine's fashion director (Stanley Tucci), she gets a makeover. To the dismay of her live-in boyfriend Nate, she starts to be seduced by the world of fashion. When first assistant Emily (Emily Blunt) falls ill and Miranda takes Andy to Paris in her place to cover Spring Fashion Week, our heroine must decide what she really wants.
